My first Park Chan-wook, save for Oldboy a long time ago. It might be the transitions and fades and camera placement that I’ll remember the most. The sound design is every bit as good. Park is careful with the comedy, which turns up when it’s needed and is noticeably absent elsewhere. Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin are very good either way. It could perhaps be a bit shorter, though I say that about almost every film that goes past the two-hour mark.
