Mario vs. Donkey Kong

This is perhaps the perfect handheld puzzle-platformer: lots of bite-sized levels that are fun, not too taxing and don’t outstay their welcome. A remake of a 20-year-old Game Boy Advance title, this has had a beautiful coat of paint but little else added. The soundtrack is fantastic:

You can plough through the main campaign in an afternoon or, like I did, dip in and out over the course of a couple of weeks while avoiding playing the increasingly challenging Hollow Knight. My family were less convinced, and there are better ways of spending £40, but I enjoyed it.
